About Us

After obeying a call from the Lord and pursuing his will, Mt. Sinai EMC was established on October 9, 1955, with fifty-six charter members. They began work on the church basement and were able to complete it in December of 1955. They began holding services on the Church property after several months of meeting in garages and homes. Rev. Melvin Brown was called as the first pastor. The members were faithful with their donations of time, money, and materials which led to the addition of the Sanctuary. It was completed in March of 1957 and the basement was converted into Sunday school rooms. The church parsonage was built in 1962 and land for the cemetery was secured in 1964. An addition was added to the church in 1970 and the fellowship hall was built in 1978. There have been many other updates and renovations over the years in an effort to continually improve what God has provided.

Mt. Sinai has been blessed through the years with faithful members, pastors, and leaders. The goal from the beginning has been to be on mission for Christ. It wouldn’t be possible without the ones dedicated to making that happen. The current mission statement is Connect, Equip, and Empower. Connecting with people to build a sense of community centered around shared faith, equipping by investing in others to help with spiritual growth and purpose, and empowering each person with love, encouragement, knowledge, and support to live out their faith and ultimately share it with others.

Mt. Sinai hopes to continue in the building of God’s kingdom and being a beacon of hope for those in need.
